2017: The Safest Year
Regarding commercial airlines, the previous year has been the safest on record. Besides it being the year with the most flights ever, there were no passenger jet crashes and the total accident rate was lower than 2016.
These statistics did not include military or helicopter accidents or smaller aircrafts.
Still, the overall average has been declining since 1997!
