Often overlooked as a resort on the way up to Obergurgl and Hochgurgl, but Solden has great pistes for intermediates and advanced skiers and boarders, right the way up to the Rettenbach Glacier at well over 3000ms. Part of an extensive and charming ski area. Although the villages are relatively low altitude, the extensive snow-making facilities guarantee good conditions from December to March. Excellent for beginners and intermediates. The vertical drops are relatively low, so not the best for advanced skiers looking for the 'steep and deep', but still plenty to challenge. Scheffau particularly is ideal for families looking for a charming small Tyrolean village.
