The long transfer from Sofia is more than made up for by the great value that Bansko offers its visitors with ski extras and costs on the pistes often being 50% cheaper than comparable resorts in France and other European countries. Whereas some Eastern European resorts make their reputation from being inexpensive and fine for a short break because the skiing is limited, Bansko is a serious ski and snowboard resort, and is a regular stopping point on the mens' and womens' race circuit.
