In its time, Avoriaz's architecture and traffic-free status lead the way of purpose-built ski resorts for decades to come. Now the centre of the Portes du Soleil area, it offers fantastic skiing right from your doorstep. Morzine, by contrast, is connected to Avoriaz by slopes and lifts but is a much more traditional Savoyarde village full of charm and character.
