The twin resorts of Crans and Montana combine to offer fantastic skiing for beginners to experts, and is a regular stopping point on the FIS circuit for men and women having hosted the World Ski Championships. Separate from the wintersports, Crans Montana often hosts concerts and festivals. For non-skiers, the towns of Sion and Martigny are only a short train ride away.

Davos and Klosters are names synonymous with style, elegance, glitz, glamour, royalty and the annual World Economic Forum. However, none of that should take away from the fact that it has more than 300kms of pistes aimed at every grade of skier and boarder.

Together with its partner village of Wengen, Grindelwald offers stunning skiing and boarding, a fantastically integrated lift and public transport system, that makes Switzerland the envy of the world. Head up to First for a stunning view over to the infamous Eiger North Face, but certainly don't miss out on 'The Terminal' - Grindelwald's state of the art gondola lift which joins up with the train up through the Eiger to the Jungfrau. Costing a mere ChF320 million, it opened in 2021 and certainly gives you a glimpse of ski lift technology for the future. Due to its train and bus links, Grindelwald is a fabulous resort for non-skiers.

This snow-sure, traffic-free resorts is a must for intermediate and advanced skiers. It does have some beginner slopes right in the heart of the resort, but it's quite a jump from these to the intermediate slopes higher up the mountain which wouldn't make it the best choice if you are starting out on skis or boards, but if you are an ambitious intermediate, then Saas Fee should definitely be on your 'to visit' list.

One of the most famous names in wintersports, St Moritz offers glitz and glamour, designer shops, Michelin-starred restaurants, the famous Cresta run, if you are mad enough, as well as horse-racing and rally-driving on the frozen lake. Host to World Skiing Championships and Winter Olympic Games, St Moritz may not be the easiest place to get to, even with the incredible Swiss public transport system, but you will never regret the journey.

One of Switzerland's most popular resorts, 'Verbs' has fabulous skiing and boarding opportunities, combined with great night life and apres-ski. Being a relatively short journey by rail and postbus from Geneva, it's a great choice for short-breaks as well as longer holidays.

A charming traditional village within easy reach of Geneva, Villars is a great resort for beginners and intermediates. It's great for families and non-skiers, who can take the bus and train down to explore cities such as Montreux and Lausanne on Lake Geneva.

One of the truly iconic Swiss mountain resorts. Traffic-free and only accessible by a cog-railway from Lauterbrunnen, Wengen attracts visitors from all over the world with thousands making the prilgrimage for the annual Lauberhorn Ski Race weekend - along with the Hanhnenkamm in Kitzbuhel, truly the 'blue ribband' event of the racing calendar. On a sunny plateau, Wengen offers skiing and boarding for every grade, fabulous cross-country opportunities and hundreds of kilometres of cleared walking paths - and the scenery? Breath-taking.

The Matterhorn is probably the most-easily identifiable mountain in the world and dominates the skyline from every part of this world-famous resort. Whether heading up to the Klein Matterhorn by cable-car or the Gornengrat by train the views will stun you around every corner. Fabulous high-altitude skiing and boarding, but with world-class shops, numerous cafes, restaurants, and top quality hotels, you do not have to take to the slopes to have a wonderful holiday in Zermatt.
