All passengers travelling to the USA under the Visa Waiver Program must hold a passport with an integrated chip.
Additionally, citizens of the 38 Visa Waiver Program countries - including the UK - who have travelled to Iran, Iraq, Sudan and Syria since 1 March 2011 or who are dual nationals of these states, are not allowed to travel to the US without a visa. It's quite likely that other countries will be added to this list.
All travellers wishing to enter or transit through the USA under the Visa Waiver Program must apply for authorisation to travel using the Electronic System for Travel Authorisation (ESTA). Please allow sufficient time when making an ESTA application.
